Eko-Konnect Users Conference came to a successful conclusion on 22 January with the hosting of its Annual General Meeting in the afternoon. The conference was opened by Prof. Oluwole Familoni, DVC (Academics & Research) on behalf of the University of Lagos Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.

A LIBSENSE session was hosted in the afternoon of Day 1 by Mr Omo Oaiya –CSO, WACREN and remote presentations from the international library and repository practitioners, Ms Iryna Kuchma – Program Manager EIFL and Ms Kathleen Shearer – ED, COAR gave enriched content and illuminations to the issues of library administration, repository development, research and content publishing from open access and open science perspectives.

The strong library, open science and open access themes led to the establishment of the Nigerian Coalition of Librarians for Open Research – NiCLOR with the librarians from across the country who attended the conference, see here to download the conference communique.

Eko-Konnect Chair, Prof. Charles Uwadia commented at the conclusion of the conference that he looked forward to next year’s conference that he expected to be bigger and better.
