Eko-Konnect is thrilled to announce its new position as the ORCID Consortium Lead for Nigeria, effective 1st December 2024. This development provides Research and Education institutions, along with other organisations in Nigeria, the opportunity to access ORCID membership benefits with ease. With this role, Eko-Konnect aims to promote and support the wider adoption and integration of ORCID iDs into institutional systems and research workflows, promoting global visibility and streamlined researcher identity management.
The ORCID Consortium benefits institutions and researchers in several ways:
- It fosters collaboration among organisations to accelerate the adoption of ORCID services.
- It provides shared knowledge and cost-effective integration of ORCID to existing platforms.
- The Affiliation Manager tool simplifies the management of researcher affiliations and boosts institutional and researcher visibility by linking outputs correctly.
Through ORCID iDs, Nigerian researchers and institutions can boost their global visibility and foster collaborations that align with Open Science principles. Eko-Konnect, as the Consortium Lead, will provide administrative support, technical support and help with onboarding members. We are excited to collaborate with ORCID, and supporting persistent identifiers like ORCID is central to Eko-Konnect’s mission of advancing research and education in Nigeria.
