Eko-Konnect has been awarded the ORCID Global Participation Fund.
This award comes under the Community Development and Outreach program that supports ORCID partners in building ORCID Communities of Practice in currently under-represented regions; and supports local outreach, training, and tech support resources for the creation and growth of ORCID consortia that serve those regions.
Eko-Konnect will initiate a campaign and series of activities on the importance of using and implementing ORCID IDs among other Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) for scholarly and research output as part of its Open Science roadmap implementation in Nigeria. Webinars and physical workshops will be hosted on campuses in the six geo-political zones of Nigeria. Additionally, Eko-Konnect and its affiliates will engage with the education funders, government agencies, and other policy stakeholders through webinars and a symposium to obtain their commitment to the support of infrastructure, systems, and consortiums driven by ORCID and other PIDs in creating a viable national Open Science ecosystem for Nigeria.
